Girl Scouts of Orange County Become a Volunteer

Become a Volunteer

Ready to get started as a Girl Scouts of Orange County volunteer?

Whether you are a new volunteer or if you are adding a new role, begin the process here. You will then be directed to complete the following steps:

1. Select a Role

During the registration process, you can browse the volunteer opportunities in your area or for a particular troop. If you’re not sure which opportunity to choose, select “Unsure”, and we’ll help you find the right one for you.

Click here to learn about the various volunteer roles!

You can also select your volunteer role through your MyGS Member Profile.

2. Become a Member

Next, you will provide some information about you and pay the annual national membership dues of $25.

Annual dues support the national Girl Scouts organization, covers you under our liability insurance, and supports the research and program development our local council relies upon.

The council service fee enables local councils to provide additional volunteer support and ensure girls receive the best leadership opportunities available.

3. Background Check

If the role you selected works directly with youth or manages finances, this step is required. Once you have chosen a volunteer opportunity, you will receive an email, with further instructions on how to complete the background check process.  Please note, this may take a few days to process.

4. Online Orientation

This video will provide you with a brief overview of our organization, mission and the tools you will be using as a volunteer.

Looking for the orientation video? Volunteers who need to complete this step can find this video when they log into the Girl Scout Member Community.

5. Complete your Volunteer Agreement

All volunteers are required to review and sign our GSOC Volunteer Agreement each year.  If you are a Service Unit Lead or SU Data Management Volunteer with Looker Access, you will also need to sign a GSOC Non-Disclosure Agreement before you start.

6. Participate in Trainings

We offer a wide range of quality and convenient adult learning opportunities that are essential to helping our volunteers gain the skills and knowledge to deliver the life-changing Girl Scout Leadership Experience.  Our adult learning opportunities are an investment in you and the girls you serve.
