Girl Scouts is more than just cookies—it’s a place where girls build courage, confidence, and character. Through hands-on experiences, outdoor adventures, and meaningful friendships, girls discover who they are and what they’re capable of.

How it Works

Incoming Kinder- 12^th grade girls participate in troops made up of about 12 or more girls and their families. Troops typically meet 1–2 times per month and plan activities based on the girls’ interests and Girl Scout Programming—making each experience fun, engaging, and girl-led. The Annual Girl Scout Membership is $65 for girls and $30 for adults.

Family Involvement

Whether you want to help occasionally or start a brand-new troop, your involvement makes her experience even more meaningful.

All adult volunteers must register as members and complete a background check to help ensure a safe and supportive environment for every girl.

What is Girl Scouts?

How does it work? What’s a “troop”?
Groups of Girl Scouts, called troops, typically meet every other week or once a month for an hour or two. Guided by adult volunteers, troop members choose the hands-on activities and projects that excite them, try new things, and cheer each other on. Together, they earn badges to reflect their successes and show the world what they’re made of.

What’s the goal?
Making sure girls are given the opportunity to reach their full potential by developing values and skills that will lead them to happier lives.

When can I get started?
If your girl is ready to let her best self shine and start creating the world she wants to see, she’s ready to be a Girl Scout today. A Girl Scout membership year starts on October 1 and lasts until September 30 of the following year, but you can join at any time!
