Get away with your Girl Scout for a Weekend of Adventure with Family or Troop.

All campers will have fun developing new skills that last a lifetime. Weekend campers must be accompanied by a parent/and or Troop Leader for the entire weekend to meet proper adult:girl ratios.*

At Camp Scherman, all campers get to try their hand at favorite camp activities, which may include archery, canoeing, hiking, swimming, and low ropes, led by trained camp staff.

Weekend participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from camp.

FAQ

Is financial aid available? toggle arrow

Yes! Financial aid "camperships" are awarded to GSOC youth campers with a current Girl Scout membership on the basis of financial need only and are available for Camp Scherman summer sleepaway camps, Camp Scherman weekend camps and GSOC day camps. Camperships must be submitted no less than 6 weeks prior to the start day of the camp.

Lower Camp Cabins are fully enclosed with a screened door and screened windows. All cabins have bunk beds that sleep six on each side. Fully-equipped restrooms are just a short walk away.

Ranch House Cabins are dormitory-style with bunk beds that sleep 12-24. Heat, electricity, and restrooms are inside the cabins.

Tent Camping in 101 Meadow for select weekend camps and summer resident sessions is also available. Restrooms are just a short walk away.

During Weekend Camp, parents or troop leaders sleep in the same accommodations with their campers. See individual camp descriptions for accomodation information.

American Camp Association (ACA) accreditation shows that safety is a top priority at Camp Scherman. You can rest easy knowing your daughter is in good hands while she’s at camp.

Weekend Camp Cancellation Policy toggle arrow

If you would like to cancel or receive a refund for Weekend Camp, a written request is required. Please email your request to CustomerCare@GirlScoutsOC.org or mail your request to GSOC. Please include the full names of those who cannot attend, the camp program name and the camp date.

More than 4 weeks prior to camp: Full refund minus $30 cancellation fee per person.

2-4 weeks prior to camp: 50% refund.

Less than 2 weeks prior to camp: No refund (except for medical reasons - must be approved by GSOC).

Mandated Reporter Training and Fingerprinting Required toggle arrow

Due to California legislation, all volunteers attending weekends camps must complete the online child abuse identification and reporting training and a fingerprint-based background check. Please email customercare@girlscoutsoc.org if you have not already completed this process

California Assembly Bill No. 506 requires 1) any administrator, employee, or regular volunteer (those who volunteer more than 16 hours in a month or 32 hours in a year) of a California youth service organization to complete training in identifying and reporting child abuse and neglect, and 2) require California youth-serving organizations to include fingerprinting as part of its Background Check & Screening.

If you are coming to weekend camp as a parent/guardian and girl pair and are not supervising girls who are not related to you, you may not meet the requirement for fingerprinting and Mandated Reporter training.
