Girl Scouts of Orange County's Signature Career Exploration Program
INSPIRE™ Girl Scouts of Orange County’s signature interactive program, formerly housed exclusively at the Argyros Girl Scout Leadership Center (GSLC), has been reimagined in a new web-based format; we’re making it easier than ever for every girl to discover her voice and build her skills, and pursue her dreams from anywhere. Through INSPIRE, Girl Scouts of all levels have life-changing opportunities to explore exciting careers while developing an understanding of the importance and relevance of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) in their everyday lives.
Career Exploration is a key component of the INSPIRE™ program. Through Career Exploration, Girl Scouts of all levels will hear from extraordinary women spanning diverse careers and learn the vital role STEM plays in what these women do, while exploring their own career aspirations.
Through video presentations, INSPIRE™ brings career women right into the room with the girls. The women, representing 15 different careers, will tell the girls about who they are what they do, the importance of STEM in what they do, and what they love about their careers.
With this online resource, Girl Scouts can earn their STEM Career Exploration Badge, and GSOC INSPIRE™ Fun Patch in 3 easy steps:
- What She Does: Watch the Planet, World, or Story video tailored to each girl Scout Level on the GSOC
Visit the Inspire site and discuss what careers they are interested in learning about to help them choose a career path. - Learn About a STEM Career: Watch at least 2 videos about specific career women. Choose two women to explore in depth from your video, or check out the Career Women Library.
- STEM Careers Activity: This activity changes based on what resources you have available. We recommend utilizing the Inspire Kits in each room at the GSLC or checking out an INSPIRE™ Box from GSOC. For participants who aren't able to access a kit, we've curated at-home activities that can be completed with or without a printer.
