IRVINE, CA (November 2, 2025) Girl Scouts of Orange County hosted its 10th annual STEM Expo on Sunday, November 2, 2025, a milestone event designed to ignite curiosity and exploration in local Girl Scouts through hands-on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) experiences. Held at the Orange County Fairgrounds, this year’s event brought together more than three hundred Girl Scouts and five hundred total attendees for a day of exploration, discovery, and inspiration.
Created by Girl Scouts of Orange County’s volunteer STEM Patrol in 2015, the STEM Expo has grown each year thanks to the passion and dedication of volunteers committed to empowering girls to explore careers in STEM fields.
“Over the last decade, the STEM Expo has become a cornerstone of our mission to prepare girls for the future,” said Vikki Shepp, Ed.D., Chief Executive Officer of Girl Scouts of Orange County. “What began as a bold idea to spark girls’ interest in STEM has grown into a life-changing experience that continues to open doors and shape futures. We’re now seeing the full circle—young Girl Scout alums who once attended STEM Expo are pursuing STEM careers and returning as mentors to inspire the next generation. That’s the legacy of this event and the true spirit of Girl Scouting in action.”
This year’s Expo featured more than 50 interactive booths hosted by leading organizations and companies across Southern California, including GSOC STEM Consortium members Edwards Life Sciences, Kaiser Permanente, Parker Aerospace, and program partners from Johnson & Johnson, OC Habitats, Society of Women Engineers Orange County, and Cal Poly Pomona Society of Women Engineers, among many others . Girl Scouts from across SoCal had the opportunity to engage in experiments, meet female STEM professionals, and experience hands-on learning activities that spark curiosity and leadership.
“This event is truly powered by our volunteers,” said Amanda Moore, Program Manager at Girl Scouts of Orange County.
“For ten years, our STEM Patrol has poured their hearts into creating meaningful opportunities for girls to connect with real-world innovators and see themselves as future engineers, scientists, and changemakers.”
Made possible through the work of volunteer teams, this signature event has become a time-honored tradition for local Girl Scouts.
"Our STEM Expo is a magical event, and it's so meaningful for me and other volunteers to see the impact this has had on thousands of girls as they light up, exploring the wonders of the STEM world.
We recruit professionals and enthusiasts who inspire and motivate them, making these often-distant subjects more accessible and fun for them, a win-win for us all!" said Watanabe, STEM Patrol Member and longtime Girl Scout Volunteer.
Since its launch, the Girl Scouts of Orange County STEM Expo has provided thousands of girls with opportunities to explore STEM in fun, confidence-building ways. The event reflects Girl Scouts’ ongoing commitment to preparing girls for the future through experiential learning and personalized leadership development.
The event is made possible annually by the Girl Scouts of Orange County STEM Consortium, and is organized by GSOC’s STEM Patrol, a group of volunteers engaged in planning STEM events and activities for Orange County Girl Scouts.

About Girl Scouts of Orange County (GSOC)
We are the Girl Scouts of Orange County. We are 25,000 strong—15,000 girls and 10,000 adults who believe that every girl can change the world. Girl Scouts began over 100 years ago with one woman, Juliette Gordon “Daisy” Low, who believed in the power of every girl. Today, we continue her vision of building girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place, by helping them discover their inner strength, passions, and talents. With Girl Scouts representing every zip code in Orange County, there are opportunities for every girl to do something amazing. We are Girl Scouts.
