December's Year of Service event is Nurdle Patrol & Beach Cleanup with Citizen Science activity!
What is nurdle pollution? Nurdles are small plastic pellet trash used when manufacturing anything made from plastic. Nurdle pollution occurs when millions of nurdles spill into the ocean, damaging the fragile ecosystem. Learn how Citizen Scientists (that's YOU!) can help remove plastic from the environment!
This is a two-part service event:
$5 each OC Girl Scout; all ages* - includes BOTH sessions!
* $10 each for Girl Scouts registered in councils outside of
Orange County.
What's included:
GSOC Year of Service patch and December tab!
Informative guest speaker to learn about pollution and citizen science!
Take Action to keep the sea plastic-free with Girl Scout Award projects!
Impactful in-person service at Bolsa Chica State Beach; includes supplies!
Highest Awards presentation from Sam R. on her Gold Award project
*Please take a moment during registration to verify your shipping address. This simple step helps ensure you receive all your materials without any issues!*
**This is not a drop-off event. Girl Scouts attend online with adult permission and agree to the Girl Scout Internet Safety Pledge to teach, encourage, and support web safety and respectful "net-iquette" while online.

Good for individual Girl Scouts, or as an instant program for an upcoming troop meeting! Registration remains open one month after the live event.
