Join Barefoot Joel for an Outdoor Adventure in Weir Canyon!

 

Embark on a journey with Barefoot Joel, professional naturalist, as he leads an exciting outdoor trek through the biodiversity-rich landscapes of Weir Canyon. This fun and educational adventure is perfect for all experience levels, offering the opportunity to earn part or all of the Eco Badge and the Junior Trail Adventure Badge.

 

Discover & Learn:
🌿 How to prepare for an outdoor adventure.
🌿 Ways to protect nature, care for wildlife, and minimize negative impacts.
🌿 The importance of native plant communities in supporting protected wildlife species.
🌿 A global ecosystem issue and how you can make a difference.

 

Wildlife & Wildflowers:
Make frequent stops to observe birds, reptiles, amphibians, mammals, and pollinators, as well as seasonal wildflowers like poppy, lupine, mariposa lily, pincushion, chia, and other stunning bloomers. Hike along a sun-exposed ridge through fragrant sage scrub, taking in the beauty of nature firsthand.

 

Hike Details:
🥾 Optional loop with 350 feet of elevation gain.
 Full sun exposure - bring plenty of water & snacks to enjoy along the way.
🎖 Badges are not included in the cost of the hike.

 

Get ready for a memorable outdoor experience filled with learning, discovery, and adventure!

 

Parking: Meet at the intersection of S. Hiddens Canyon Rd and Overlook Terrace.

$20 per person In Council

$26 per person Out of Council

Minimum hikers - 15

Maximum hikers - 20

This is not a drop off event. All youths must be accompanied by an adult.

GSOC follows current  CDC COVID-19 guidelines. Event participants will be notified if additional action is required.

 

This event accepts GSOC Cookie Dough, GSOC Bucks, and GSOC Juliette Dollars! Girl Scouts must complete online registration and pay the deposit or in full. Next fill out the Reimbursement form prior to participating in the event.
