Volunteer Support Resources

We know how important volunteers are to the Girl Scout organization and we want to ensure that as a GSOC volunteer you have all of the resources available to help you feel well prepared and supported throughout your journey with us.

As a Girl Scout volunteer, you will have the most contact with your local Girl Scout support team, which is called a Service Unit. Never hesitate to contact these fellow volunteers, because your Service Unit is your expert in all things Girl Scouting. If you have questions about the Girl Scout program, working with girls, resources in the national program portfolio (leadership journeys and The Girl’s Guide to Girl Scouting), or selling Girl Scout Cookies and other products, go to your Service Unit team for answers and ongoing support. You will receive your Service Unit roster/contact list at your Volunteer Orientation. These rosters are also available on the Volunteer Network under the “Forms and Docs” tab.

In addition to your service unit team, council staff is dedicated to providing assistance to volunteers in several different capacities. Each Service Unit is assigned a member of council staff called a Volunteer Specialist (VS) who is responsible for providing ongoing support and guidance to the Service Unit Team.

We’re also very excited to announce that we are launching one of our most powerful online tools for our volunteers in mid-summer, called the Volunteer Toolkit! This wonderful planning resource is for our Girl Scout Daisy, Brownie and Junior Troop Leaders. The video above demonstrates the power of this tool and how it will help adults and girls make the most of their Girl Scout Experience.  The Volunteer Toolkit will be released in phases, with the first phase focused on meeting plans and activities. The second phase includes an updated layout, a parent view, parent/troop communication tools and much more! Stay tuned as we'll be releasing more information soon!

We also offer online and in-person training opportunities and resources that you can find at GSOC Learning.  From volunteer essentials to delegate training - we've got some great tools to set you up for success.
