Color Me Orange County National Destination 2023
BEACH: The Argyros Girl Scout Leadership Center (GSLC) located in Newport Beach is Orange County’s hub for Girl Scout STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) programs. Visits to the GSLC provide Orange County Girl Scouts from all cultures and backgrounds extraordinary opportunities to practice leadership the Girl Scout way, as they explore exciting 21st Century careers and learn how they can take action to make the world a better place. Girl Scouts visiting the GSLC also have plenty of opportunities to create lifelong memories — kayaking from the bay-front property, toasting s’mores on the sprawling patio, and participating in fun water and sand activities on Newport Beach’s beautiful Balboa Peninsula.
ENTERTAINMENT: Girls will then participate in a “peek behind the curtain” of Disney Entertainment, offering a 3-night stay at Disneyland Resort with exclusive hands-on activities, behind the scenes tours, with working professionals leading each session. All events cover curriculum of STEAM, Careers Pathways, and the entertainment creative process. A character-themed meal and a three-day park hopper experience and V.I.P. viewing of a Disney Entertainment offering is included.
Immersive Storytelling: Explore how Disney Imagineers engage all 5 senses to create immersive environments that support the living stories of our theme parks.
Technology of Disney Parks: Storytelling is at the very heart of everything we do at Disney. Wherever you are in our theme parks and resorts, you are immersed in our stories. And technology has played a major role in how we are able to tell those stories.
Soundtrack Sessions: Vocal - Experience the excitement, focus and fast-paced energy of a professional recording studio environment. During this workshop participants will sight-read and work directly with industry professionals to create a truly magical ensemble piece. The experience culminates with a screening of their recorded work set to Disney film footage.
TRADITION: Girls will reflect on all they learned while relaxing at Camp Joe Scherman, a 700-acre camping and recreation facility owned and operated by GSOC and located in the southern San Jacinto Mountains, featuring: a pool, two ponds, ropes course, hiking, and Girl Scout traditions. New friendships, forever memories and inspiring dreams for the future will be the best part of this Destination!
