Cadettes look for the ME in media and learn how they can shape media—for themselves, their community and the world. Stories are told everywhere and in all kinds of formats – in movies by big Hollywood studios, online by bloggers and through social networks, through the clothes chosen by stylists for a fashion spread in a magazine, through the photos chosen by a newspaper editor. MEdia helps girls think about who is responsible for telling all the stories they see around them and how can use their story to help "re-make" the forms of media they see around them...
GSOC High Adventure Group Planning Meeting It’s time to make your voice heard! High Adventures Girl Scouts is having a meeting for girls (grades 5-11) who are ready to let us know what they want to do next year in High Adventures. Have an urge to go kayaking? Always wished you could scuba dive? Really want to build your own shelter in the woods and camp? Bring all of your ideas Nov 16 (Sunday) at the Anaheim Program Center, 3-5 pm. No RSVP needed. Designed for individuals, our three-step wilderness progression safely takes girls and adults out of the campground and into the woods! Wilderness Hiking covers outdoor skills and knowledge, and is a prerequisite for Basic Backpacking Course and Advanced Backpacking Trips. Be the inventor in this 4 session STEM series ! A Hundred Tiny Hands focuses on empowering kids and inspiring them to do great things. We have developed three unique “Inventor’s Toolboxes” designed to teach core science and engineering concepts in an open-ended and interactive manner. Find out about Native American life at the Kidseum in Santa Ana. A Native American speaker will educate the girls about customs and traditions of their way of life. Girls will create clay pinch pots, symbol drawings and taste some Native American foods. The culmination of the workshop will have the group enjoying an authentic Pow-Wow in which girls will learn Native American  dance steps and songs. Through Mission Sisterhood! girls see  the stories of sisterhood all around them and grow as leaders by widening their networks and broadening their world.
