During the College of Veterinary Medicine’s Open House you will have the opportunity to learn about pet care and animal awareness by visiting various information booths that cover topics from what foods to feed your pets to what to do with your pets in case of an emergency. You will also get the opportunity to learn about sea creatures by visiting the Aquarium of the Pacific mobile unit; learn about exotics from the reptile house and about service dogs. Participate in several Girl Scout Gold Award Projects while having a great, fun-filled, educational and free day at Kelpfest 2013! Perform in the Ocean Idol contest, help in a beach cleanup, make ocean-based crafts, explore tide pools and much more! More information and registration here. Through this event younger Girl Scouts will earn a Help the Kelp patch. Older Girl Scouts (Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors) can volunteer to help the younger Girl Scouts earn the patch. Wouldn't you love to have a bunch of Girl Scouts cheering you on at the end of running a 5K at Angels Stadium? Be those Girl Scouts! In return for cheering on the runners you will receive a voucher to attend an Angels game in April or May (limited number per game). Could Nursing be a career for you? Come join Saddleback Nursing students for this workshop designed to discover nursing as a career! The workshop will include demonstrations of skills nurses perform, basic physical assessment, hand hygiene/infection control, basic first aid and allergic reaction treatment.
