Newport-Mesa Spirit Run Race for the Schools
Register to participate in a fabulous, fun, healthy event. Girls and their family and friends that register for the Spirit Run receive a race bib, timing chip, and t-shirt, the right to run or walk in a chipped time race and their name in Spirit Run's official results and a finisher's medal if they did, (finsher's medal for youth finishers in the youth races only), free post-race food and drink, and entrance into a fabulous Youth & Fitness Expo with live entertainment, youth activities, free and food for purchase, numerous youth activities, health and fitness information, and more.
Stop by the Girl Scout booth with your Girl Scout green and pick up some fun race day give-aways!
Girls bring their finisher’s medal from the youth race or race bib if they ran in the adult 5K or 10K to the GS booth to receive a special race day patch!

If you are registering online, please select “Girl Scouts of Orange County” from the dropdown selection to the question “How did you hear about the Spirit Run”. If you are filing out a paper registration please write GIRL SCOUTS somewhere on the form.
Adult 5k/10k: (ages 19-59) $40
Adult 5k/10k (Senior age 60+) $35
Adult 5k/10k (Junior age 15-18) $25
Adult 15k (Race 10K & 5K & we will combine & rank times): $55
Youth 5k (pre-high school aged 14 and under) $25
Kids' 1/4 - 1-mile races (ages 4-12): $20
Youth Combo (Youth 5k and 1/4 to 1-mile race) $35

9:35 am – 1 Mile (9-10 yrs)

10:05 am – 1 Mile (7 yrs)
10:15 am – 1/2 Mile (6 yrs)
10:20 am – 1/2 Mile (5 yrs)
10:45 am – 1/4 Mile (4 yrs)

Girl Scouts learn to stay healthy by eating well and being active!
The Girl Scout Leadership Journeys encourage girls to think about how they can care for themselves to be the best they can be. Badges also focus on special skills to help girls be healthy. Check out some examples below that show how the Spirit Run can enhance a journey experience or help to complete badge steps!
Daisy: Gloria petal- Respect Myself and Others- Practice respecting yourself by getting exercise every day!
Between Earth and Sky journey with Healthy Habits booklet: Try Activity 1 in Session 1 to find out about Energy In and Energy Out, like running!
Brownie: My Best Self badge- Try running as an exercise on your way to completing Step 2
WOW! Wonders of Water journey with Healthy Habits booklet: Make an Energy Balance Pledge for Activity 2 in Session 4.
Junior: Get a running start by completing Step 1 of your Staying Fit badge while trying out this heart pumping run or build your endurance for Step 2 of your Practice with Purpose badge! Get Moving! journey with Healthy Habits booklet: Do Activity 2 in Session 1 to find out about fueling your engine and eating energizing snacks to keep you running all day long!
Cadette: Good Sportsmanship badge- If you are putting your sneakers to the test during Step 4, concentrate on mind over matter to prepare yourself to go the extra mile for this run.
Senior: Cross-Training badge: Run in the sun to complete Step 5 of adding in a cardio element to your exercise routine.
Ambassador: Coaching badge- This run is a great way to practice your coaching skills and even complete Step 3 by designing a warm up for other runners in the race.
