Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day

“Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day” – February 17

In Celebration of National Engineering Week, February 16-22

The Boeing Engineering Team is hosting this special event as part of the National Engineering Week event for employees.  Girl Scouts in grades 6-8 (ages 12-14) are invited to participate.  This is a great opportunity for girls to get an inside look into engineering and how it is applied everyday in the things we use and see in the world around us.  The event will include guest speakers and interactive activities to give girls a chance to experience hands on what exactly engineers do.

The purpose of this event is to reach out to young girls and boys in the local area and teach them more about engineering and what it can do for them and their communities.  A couple of guest speakers will share their recent experiences in pursuing engineering.  Boeing engineers will talk to the girls and answer any questions about working as an engineer and real world application.  The event will be on site during the Engineering Week event held for Boeing employees which will allow participants an opportunity to see the different engineering projects on display and watch the engineering contests and events.

Engineering Week is February 16-22, 2014 and Discover E Day will be held on Monday, February 17, 2014 (the 17th is a holiday and therefore the girls should not have school).  The event will be from 10am-2pm during the day.  The time and itinerary are subject to change.  The official itinerary will be sent out by February 7, 2014 to those participating in the event.

Just 20 spots are reserved specifically for Girl Scouts that would like to attend!
