Enjoy a day of networking, informative workshops and community exhibitors to help you get the most out of your Girl Scout year! The August Kick Off will be held on August 16 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the UC Irvine Student and Event Center. Registration includes a light breakfast, Product Sale Preview & Tasting, GSOC & Community Exhibitors, and your choice of three workshops (workshop descriptions. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Jacqueline McLaughlin, an Associate Professor of Biology at Pennsylvania State University – Lehigh Valley, and Founding Director of Penn State's award-winning international professional development and environmental education outreach program - CHANCE (Connecting Humans And Nature through Conservation Experiences.) It’s more important than ever that girls develop STEM skills – whether they pursue a career in STEM or not.  Dr. McLaughlin will share her insights into how volunteers can create impactful and fun STEM experiences for girls to develop their ingenuity, creativity, and critical thinking skills as they explore and navigate the world around them. You’ll be inspired to foster your girls’ passion for STEM - whether you’re leading your girls through the “It’s Your Planet – Love It!” journey series or other badge or program activities at any level.

Service Unit teams are encouraged to “divide and conquer” and meet up later to share with SU teammates all that was learned!

Please note: Once a class has reached full capacity, it will be removed from the session options.

Although a limited number of walk-in registrations may be accepted the day of the event, at an increased price of $10 per person, registering in advance ensures your spot at August Kick-Off! Pre-purchasing lunch with a walk-in registration is not available.
